Almost nothing is happening — and that is the point. A wide, flat wetland stretches beneath a big blue sky, its shallow water and mud rendered in soft bands of beige, taupe and grey. A loose flock of small black birds drifts across the upper sky, each one a quick, calligraphic mark. A few reeds, a low dark horizon, and a single pale blush of cloud complete the scene. Painted in oil on paper with smooth, minimal brushwork, this work is a meditation on openness: the beauty of empty space, quiet water, and birds going wherever they are going.
